Reflections on the Experiencing the Trinity Retreat for Spiritual Renewal, Titusville, Florida 2019

Posted by OIC on November 23, 2019

The day before the retreat I heard author Skye Jethani say that our technology is designed to give us the illusion that we have no limits. He went on to say that the human experiment in omnipresence is the iPhone. During the three day retreat we invited the participants to put away their technology as a symbol of their desire to see and hear from God. In the silence we became poignantly aware of how distracted, harried and chaotic living in our modern world really is. The song Holy Sounds of Silence when written by Carolyn Lane, our worship leader, became our anthem for the weekend.

Disarmed from technology, God graciously came into that space in very personal and yet communal ways. Leaders and participants of the retreat alike testify that God’s presence was palpable. We saw, heard and touched the Lord and he deeply touched us proving once again his faithfulness. He was there in powerfully transformative ways inviting us to return to the world we left with a resolve to love and care as we had been cared for by him.

One participant said she tasted heaven on earth and experienced Jesus as the lover of her soul. Other testimonies include those below.

Hi everyone,

God is faithful and true. I am so blessed to attend the OIC [retreat]. I have experienced the love of the Trinity and I hope you too.

I am writing you to say thank you for being there and I have come to know God in a very special, meaningful, personal way together with you.

My prayer is that we may continue to soak in that moment as we go in our different places. I pray that I can also spread out the news of my blessings so that they also have the same excitement to join and attend the upcoming retreat.

I miss you and praying for you always. I miss your hugs and saying God bless you and God loves you ???? The retreat though short made me feel loved by God and by you.

Take care and God bless you always,

Pastor Angie Tabin

I'm still bouncing in the wonderful experience. Gosh, God spoke with me in so many ways . . . I just feel like I've grown spiritually this weekend. It has been very transformational for me. (I am already thinking of the folks I plan to invite next year) I am definitely looking forward.

You facilitators worked extremely hard, and I thank God how he used you all...

Dr. Jean Kennedy

As for me, I have been transformed in ways hard to describe. I will remember it always. Godspeed!
