Embracing the Spirituality of Aging Retreat

This retreat provides an opportunity to rekindle your spirituality, embrace the God-designed beauty of the aging process, and uncover the presence of God in each and every stage of life's journey. God has a dream for all of us, to prosper us and to give us hope for the future in and through our personal relationship with him. There is thus a purpose in and for the aging process. Leighton Ford in the foreward to Aging Faithfully: The Holy Invitation of Growing Older by Alice Fryling, says that the purpose of God in aging “has to do with the hidden life of the Spirit so that, as the body grows older, our spirit may grow deeper and stronger.” God instructs us to “choose life” and the reality is that new life even in advancing years is not beyond our reach. God’s intention for us, therefore is to make the best use of our time (Ephesians 5: 15-16). As we participate with God in this process, we fulfill our individual purpose and calling (Ephesians 2:10) and advance the Kingdom of God on earth. Additional studies are available for those who would like to go deeper into this spiritually formative topic.
